ICS Laboratories' ballistic protective materials and product testing are performed to worldwide standards. Our capabilities, knowledge and accreditations extend to all major markets and standards pertaining to Ballistics Protection Products for Military, Police, and Tactical use. We are accredited to all relevant ballistic testing standards including CSA, MIL, NIJ, MIL, STANAG (NATO Forces) and HOSDB (UK Police).
Ballistic Protective Media can be challenged with a varied spectrum of projectiles inclusive of FSP's, RCC's, Small and Medium Caliber Bullets, inclusive of Armor Piercing rounds up to 50 Cal. We have 5 indoor ranges each computer controlled and instrumented employing redundant research grade chronographs, precise temperature and humidity control and laser sighting systems. Two of our ranges employ multi-barrel, rapid-fire universal receivers capable of emulating machine gun fire.
Impact results are recorded by digital imaging and on option, can be recorded with high speed digital video imaging at frame rates of 120,000 fps. Client observation of testing from within our protected control rooms may also be arranged.
In addition to general armor materials testing for penetration, V50 values and back face signature measurements, we employ sophisticated equipment and instrumented headforms which provide for the measurement of transmitted energy of ballistic helmets from both ballistic and anvil impacts.
Our environmental capabilities provide for a full range of temperature, humidity and solar pre-conditioning and artificial aging. Additionally, our chemistry lab can subject armor samples to a full spectrum of material denigrating agents for advanced R&D and MIL requirements.
